So, I got a little more scoop on the principals' visit yesterday. They meet up periodically and after meeting they observe a class (just happened to be ours the other day). Apparently, the subject this time was how teachers keep students aware of the objectives of lessons. I figured principals do make these types of communal efforts, but it was nice to actually see them being collaborative, as they expect us teachers to be.
Our principal later said that they were gathering info. on how they might offer assistance, in the way of programs or one-on-one guidance, to teachers in the area of keeping students informed of lesson objectives. In talking about that at a faculty meeting, I really liked a method one of my favorite teachers there uses. She said she writes the two main objectives right underneath the subject on the day's schedule that the students see everyday when they come to class. I go to this teacher's room when our kinders are at a specialist session. I really feel like I get a lot out of watching her. She has a fun, quirky, yet calm and easy-going, yet commanding presence with the students. They really listen to her.
